morissey, graham coxon and the beta band
I have a friend at work breathing down my neck telling me to purchase these three albums, i like morissey's solo stuff, but I'm skint so If I buy it I wanna make sure it's good. I like the one song i've heard by Graham, but I don't wanna buy an album based on that, and as for the beta band I've not heard a single song, but my friend tells me they are amazing so i was just wondering if anybody else can inform me of what they are like? In the end any of them have gotta be better than buying the new avril album..
Morrissey's new album is the best thing he's done since The Smiths disbanded.
Graham Coxon is my idol, and I spent my early teens awanting to be him. Again, his 5th solo album, Happiness In Magazines is awesome - the best thing to come out of "Blur" since Coffee & TV. Very Popscene-era. A fantastic album. Everyone should own it.
The Beta Band, ah, an indie boy's dream. Try before you buy.
Re: morissey, graham coxon and the beta band
The 4 EP's by the Beta Band (yep you have guessed it their first 4 EP's on a mini album) is an essential purchase.
Their first album (The Beta Band) is not that good and even they disowned it.
The second album was much better. They got a guy called C-Swing in to produce it who is better known as a pure R&B producer. It is neither R&B nor is it the lo-fi type stuff that the Beta Band were famous for.
Haven't heard the current Album but it has favorable reviews.
In essence if you want to dip your toes try 'The 4 EP's'.
