"Frankenstein" Series from USA Network Now Casting
"Frankenstein", an upcoming pilot show from the USA Network, is now casting many starring and supporting roles for its premiere episode.
With veteran director Martin Scorsese as executive producer, this new series will be a modern version of Mary Shelley’s horror classic. Written by author Dean Koontz ("The Face", "Odd Thomas"), the show's two-hour pilot is about a female Seattle homicide detective and her partner who, in the midst of a seemingly-standard homicide investigation, unravel the myth of Frankenstein.
In Koontz's new show, the monster has become like a human being in soul after spending two hundred years living on the fringes of human society. The bad guy in this series is not the monster himself, but the man who created him.
"Frankenstein" is being produced by Tony Krantz ("24", "Felicity"), Dean Koontz and Oscar-winner Martin Scorsese ("Goodfellas", "Cape Fear"). This show will be Scorsese's first dramatic television production.
None of the cast members have been set yet.
The first episode will be directed by Marcus Nispel ("The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" remake).
"Frankenstein" has a wide variety of principal and supporting roles still open. The show is scheduled to begin production in April 2004.
ROLES AVAILABLE:
MALES
"Detective Michael Madison", Caucasian, 20s - mid 30s. A pragmatic young guy who's both hard-working and sensible, he enjoys partnering with the female O’Connor but wishes they were dating. Madison is understandably skeptical of his partner's strange story, but as the evidence piles up, he's forced to concede that they're dealing with something supernatural. Madison is like a deceptive cocktail----he seems wry and easy at first, but turns out to have a delayed kick. He's like a male version of Scully from "The X-Files". SERIES REGULAR
"Victor Helios", Caucasian, 30s - 40s. A wealthy, powerful, well-dressed man, Helios is a demanding perfectionist with unreasonably high standards to which he holds his young wife and his personal staff. A noted philanthropist and leading citizen, he is an obsessed, demented visionary who's been working for two hundred years----ever since he was known as the reviled Dr. Frankenstein in Austria----on creating monsters from human parts. SERIES REGULAR
"Harker", Caucasian or African-American, 40s - 50s. This older detective is first on the scene of the latest murder. He's cool and condescending towards young upstart detectives O’Connor and Madison. But Harker turns out to be one of Helios' creations, a monster with superior strength and agility made up of human spare parts, and his psychological torment has turned him into a cold killer. SERIES REGULAR
"Frye", Caucasian or African-American, 50s - 60s. An older police detective and partner to Harker. He's a tough, seasoned cop who has no clue what's going on with his partner, and he's also cool and condescending towards the detectives O’Connor and Madison
"Deucalion", Caucasian, 20s - 30s. A huge man who is at least six foot seven, his face and body is riddled with scars and metal disks, most of which are disguised by tattoos. He speaks in a vaguely poetic cadence and has spent most of his life as a carnie sideshow attraction. But despite his appearance, Deucalion is a sensitive, thoughtful and intelligent man keenly aware of mankind’s anguish and his own sorrow. Deucalion teams up with two police detectives as he prepares to put an end to the monster that created him. SERIES REGULAR
FEMALES
"Detective Carson O’Connor", Caucasian, 20s - mid 30s. A beautiful tomboy woman, she's a police detective who is as smart as she looks. A young detective who is down-to-earth, frequently impatient and obsessed with her work, O’Connor also has a tender and philosophical side which has been brought out by living with her 12-year-old autistic brother. Her brother's condition has filled her with pain, love and a sense that there's a deeper mystery to life. Both she and her partner Michael Madison have made the rank of detective at an unusually young age. SERIES REGULAR
