tamiya paint
Hi guys. I'm looking to see if anybody knows where I can pick up a bottle of Tamiya P/C paint in "smoke". Nobody seems to carry it here in Winnipeg.

Re: tamiya paint
try looking a great hobbies, they have a ton of different paints, even if they don't have it, e-mail them about it and they probably would find it for ya, and the paint from them isn't that expensive.

Hey, grandmasterchan,
are you looking for this 'smoke' paint to tint windows? Or do you plan to use it for an entire body?

p.s. as weired as this may sound, you might be able to get it at Gooches on Sherbrook. I remember looking into that last year and they said they were going to get some in.

Re: Hey, grandmasterchan,
Yeah they had tamiya paint at gooches when I first got my car (you have to go upstairs) but they guy couldn't tell me if it was lexan safe paint and since the only name I knew at the time was pactra I didn't buy any. He definatly had some though but perhaps not in smoke though.

typically....
the Tamiya smoke paint that can be bought at Gooches or... cellar dwellars (shudder)... is supposed to be for static car models and so it might not work as well as you'd like, it might not have the flexing agent that most polycarbonate paints have. It might flake off in collisions or other bumps. I haven't heard of anyone else using it to paint their RC bodies, but it might work, you can always buy it for your static models anyways and test on a piece of scrap lexan. Or just paint the windows with outlaw black but keep the can further back when spraying... that's what i typically hear when someone asks about tinting.

tamiya paint
I've tried Gooches and Cellar Dwellars. Gooches won't bring it in unless I buy like 12 bottles.

The tamiya paint I need is in a bottle and is a polycarbonate paint. Very rare indeed. I just need it to paint part of my R/C's headlight to get the smoked lens look.

Btw, where is Great Hobbies?

Re: tamiya paint
you might also try www.leadingedgehobbies.com in Kingston, Mike and Tony are great guys, they carry a full line of tamiya, testors, pactra and a few other brand I can't think of, I am sure they either have or could get the paint you are after. I also know they do a lot of mail order so I am sure they would be happy to ship to you, they also have a 1-800 number now but I don't think it has been posted on their web site yet.
Tell them MAXXed OUT sent ya :)
